INEC to conduct bye-elections for two vacant Reps’ seats
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organise bye-elections to fill two vacant seats.
Speaker Abbas stated this while reading the resignation letters of two former lawmakers during plenary on Tuesday.
The two seats became vacant following the appointment of Tanko Sunono and Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister of State for Education and Minister of Interior, respectively, by President Bola Tinubu.
Prior to their appointments, Tunji-Ojo was elected to represent the Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State; while Sunono was elected to represent the Yauri/Shanta/Ngaski Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.
