JAMB directs UTME students to pay N700 for mock exam
Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked students intending to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test to pay the sum of N700.
In a statement released on its official Twitter page on Monday, the board directed students to make the payment directly to owners of the computer-based (CBT) Center where they will be sitting for the examination.
“All candidates sitting for the 2021 mock examination scheduled for Thursday, 3rd June 2021 are advised to go to their assigned centers with N700. The amount would be paid to the center owners as the mock examination fee,” the board in a tweet wrote.
Fabian Benjamin, a spokesperson of the examination board, told TheCable that the sum was not going into JAMB’s purse but the account of the CBT center owners.
He added that students have been paying for mock examination since the initiative was introduced.
The sum differs from the initial N3,500 paid by candidates for UTME form and N500 paid for recommended text.
This also does not include paid by students to staffs of the National Identity Management Commission, after the board mandated prospective candidates to register with the National Identity Number.
Peoples Gazette had in April reported that over 300,000 students registered fot the 2021 UTME.
Also in April, the board postponed the optional examination to June 3, from May 20 which it initially set to conduct the mock test.
