Judge asked to step aside from the N13 billion debt case.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
A lawyer, Temilolu Adamolekun, has asked Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos to recuse himself from an alleged N13 billion debt suit.
Adamolekun requested that the case file be returned to the administrative judge for reassignment to another judge, an apparent reference to his lack of faith in the judge.
The suit was filed by the plaintiffs/applicants, a new generation bank, and Gbenga Akinde-Peters, Receiver/Manager of Stallion Nigeria Limited (In Receivership).
THP Limited, The Honda Place Limited, Connoiseur Investment Limited, Premium Seafoods Limited, and Onward Fisheries Nigeria Limited, as well as KPMG Advisory Services, are also defendants/respondents.
Mr Adamolekun filed the suit against T.H.P Limited and the four others on behalf of the bank in 2019 over the alleged N13 billion debt owed by Stallion Nigeria Limited.
Following the resumption of the hearing yesterday, Adamolekun filed an application with the judge requesting that the case be dismissed.
His notice motion requests that “Justice Awogboro recuse/disqualify himself from further adjudicating over this matter, the Applicant having lost confidence in His Lordship’s impartiality to determine this case.”
