The arrest of the Owo catholic church bombers has been confirmed by the military high command.

According to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, the arrest was made possible by a collaboration of all security agencies.

The CDS stated that the suspects, who are members of the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP), are in custody.

Remember, 40 people were killed when gunmen stormed the church on June 5, opened fire on the congregation, and detonated explosives as worshippers fled for safety.

Amotekun Corps agents in Ondo State had previously claimed to have apprehended some suspects in connection with the killings.

Adetunji Adeleye, the state Commander of Amotekun, assured journalists in Akure on June 23 that all the attackers of the worship center would be apprehended.

Adeleye, on the other hand, did not specify the number of suspected terrorists apprehended.

“In terms of the Owo incident, we recovered the last vehicle they used for that operation, made some arrests, and recovered some vital items that we are working on,” he said.

“A number of people, as well as a large amount of equipment, have been arrested in connection with the Owo issue.” We pursued them that day to the point where we recovered the vehicle, and we are still pursuing them. We’ve told you that until we get to the bottom of things, the perpetrators and their sponsors will be held accountable.”
