Kano Government Allocates N8 Billion for Mega Primary Schools and Educational Infrastructure
The Kano State Government has dedicated N8 billion for the establishment of three “mega primary” schools, aiming to provide a conducive educational environment for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Governor Abba Yusuf revealed that these mega primary schools, strategically located in each senatorial district, would be equipped with comprehensive educational facilities to ensure a solid foundation for the students’ future success.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the commitment to grassroots education, stating that modern learning materials would be provided for qualitative education at the primary level. Additionally, N6 billion has been allocated for the renovation of all primary schools across the state, signaling a comprehensive effort to enhance the educational infrastructure.
Addressing the need for upgraded facilities, the governor highlighted that the government had approved the renovation of 26 Special Institutions initially established by Former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, with 17 of them already completed. Governor Yusuf stressed the end of an era where pupils received lessons on bare floors, expressing the government’s dedication to providing essential learning facilities for a conducive teaching and learning atmosphere.
Furthermore, the government directed financial resources toward various educational initiatives. Notably, N500 million was allocated for the construction of a hostel at Aliko University Wudil, and an additional N150 million was invested in the new Environmental and Climate Department at Maitama Sule University. The State Polytechnic and Management Institution received over N500 million for new courses at Wudil and Yusuf Maitama Sule University.
