Kidnapping in schools: Interfaith urges Gov El-Rufai to ensure security
TRACKING____Participants at the monthly forum organised by Interfaith Mediation Centre, IMC, has enjoined the Kaduna State government to be proactive in providing security in schools in the state.
The forum expressed dismay at the increased rate of kidnapping in the state particularly students in the state.
The Co-executive Directors of the Centre, Imam Dr. Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa and Pastor Dr. James Movel Wuye, who issued the resolutions, urged the state government to heed the calls by people to negotiate with the kidnappers/bandits of the abducted students of the Federal Forestry Mechanization College Afaka, to facilitate their release.
They said there was an urgent need to educate and enlighten students on basic security tips to protect themselves against agents detrimental to the progress of society.
They called on community leaders and parents to team up with the government to win the war against kidnapping/banditry in the state.
The forum suggested that government should engage and recognize the civilian joint task force in the state as well as equip security agencies as a way to tackling the security challenges confronting the state.
The identified unemployment as the major genesis of insecurity in Nigeria, stressing the urgent need to empower the people, especially the youth as a way of getting them involved in meaningful ventures.
