NAF rescues seven kidnapped Chinese in Kaduna

In the early hours of yesterday, Special Forces from the 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Detachment in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, carried out a rescue operation, resulting in the rescue of seven Chinese hostages kidnapped and held hostage by terrorists.The rescued Chinese victims were abducted while working on a mining site in Ajata-Aboki, Gurmana Ward, Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, in June 2022.Terrorists abandoned their enclaves, weapons, and kidnapped Chinese victims fleeing for their lives due to the special forces’ superior firepower during the Combat Search and Rescue operation, which included 35 Special Forces.According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, the Chinese were flown to the 271 NAF Detachment Medical Centre for evaluation, where two of the victims were stabilized. The victims were then airlifted to the NAF Base Medical Hospital in Kaduna for further examination.Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, Chief of Air Staff, has since congratulated Birnin Gwari, Commander of the 271 NAF Detachment, and his men for their unwavering determination and commitment, even in the face of danger, as they make inroads into the last terrorist enclaves in Kaduna and the North-west in general.Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made the announcement on Saturday.Meanwhile, the government of Kaduna State praised the Nigerian Air Force for rescuing the kidnapped expatriates.”The Kaduna State Government has warmly commended the Nigerian Air Force for a clinical operation this morning that resulted in the rescue of seven Chinese nationals kidnapped by terrorists in a neighboring state in June,” Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan said.
