BREAKING: Senators Reject Tinubu’s Choice Of Akpabio As Senate President, Picks Orji Uzor-Kalu, Yari.
About 37 Senators belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have rejected the choice of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his choice of former Niger Delts Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Jibrim Barau for Deputy Senate President for the 10th National Assembly.
The senators reportedly pointed to the direction of Chief Whip of the senate, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu and former Governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari as Deputy Senate President, citing national unity as their reason for the choice of Kalu.
It is said that the APC senators showed their displeasure and disapproval of Akpabio as the preferred choice of Mr. Tinubu, while demanding neutrality of the President-Elect in the election of presiding officers of the National Assembly including the House of Representatives.
It is also in the news that many of the House of Representatives members-elect may not be favourably disposed to the choice of Tinubu, Abbas and maybe rooting for Hon. Muktar Aliyu Metara as Speaker for the House of reps.
