Buhari Mourns As Popular Kaduna Emir Dies
President Muhammadu Buhari has described the late Emir of Lere, Brig. Gen. Garba Mohammed (Rtd) a disciplined, loyal and passionate person.
The President said this in his condolence message on Saturday to the Lere Emirate Council, Government, and people of Kaduna State over the death of the Emir.
Buhari in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu prayed God to grant the soul of the departed peaceful rest.
It will be recalled that TrackNews earlier reported that the traditional ruler died on Saturday morning in Kaduna at the age of 76 after a brief illness.
Abubakar ascended the throne of Lere after the demise of Umaru Sani in 2011.
Reacting to the death of the monarch, President Buhari condoled “with family members, friends, and associates of the former military governor of Sokoto State, (August 1985 – December 1987), whose reputation for discipline, loyalty and passionate commitment to unity and development of the country will always be remembered.”
Describing the demise of Emir of Lere as “the sad loss of a distinguished officer and a fine gentleman,” the President prays that Almighty God will accept the soul of the statesman and military commander, and grant him Jannah Firdaus.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Saturday suspended its 10 days old nationwide strike.
The National President of the Association, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi told Vanguard that the strike was suspended due to their responsibility to Nigerians and the fact that the Federal government has met some of their demands.
According to him, the strike was suspended after series of long hours of meetings with various stakeholders in the health sector.
