Plateau Killings Shouldn’t Have Happened – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has outrightly condemned the recent attacks and killings in Plateau State.

TrackNews Online reports that over the last month, there have been attacks and reprisals in the state, especially in Jos North and Bassa Local Government Areas of the state.

Reacting to the killings in a post via his Facebook page on Sunday, Atiku stated that the Plateau killings are an affront to national security.

According to the former vice president, the recurring attacks on Jos stand condemned, adding that the North Central state has been a pride of the country.

Atiku asserted that Plateau state should not be a theatre of blood-letting, asking the Federal Government to protect the citizens of the state.

He said: “Plateau is Nigeria’s pride, and should not be a theatre of blood-letting.

“The recurring attacks on Jos stand condemned. The Plateau has been a pride of the country and should not be a theatre of blood-letting.

“This recent attack on the city of Jos, like all others before it and everywhere else, is an affront to our national security.

“We must do our all to protect the Plateau, its people and its heritage of hospitality. I mourn the victims of this new attack and sympathise with their loved ones.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, had stated that stealing under the Muhammadu Buhari-led government is not done in the open.

Speaking on the legacy of the Buhari administration, the former Rivers governor said if there is stealing at all, then it is done quietly under the current government.

He told Daily Trust in an interview published on Sunday that the present administration has handled Nigeria’s resources very well.

Amaechi claimed that during the previous government someone without any means of verifiable livelihood could become a billionaire due to corruption.
