Obi calls for collective efforts towards the development
Ex-Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has said rescuing Nigeria will take more collective efforts and commitment.
Obi, in his Independence Day message, said the past 61 years of Nigeria as an independent nation have been mostly a story of retrogression and failure. He blamed it mainly on political leaders at all levels of government who do not have the interest of the nation at heart.
He added that the high level of insecurity, rising poverty, mounting national debt, high level of unemployment and other challenges contending with the development of the nation can be surmounted if Nigerians commit to national progress and development.
Obi stated that the 61st Independent Day offers Nigerians a unique opportunity to reflect on their journey as a nation so far, and called on everyone to join hands to build the nation and elevate it to the lofty height which it can attain.
