By Adeleye Kunle
The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Nasarawa chapter, has revealed that over 100 doctors in the state’s service have left for other foreign countries causing a huge brain drain in the health sector.
The NMA expressed worry that a majority of doctors at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi and the State Hospital Management Board have migrated to Saudi Arabia for greener pastures.
Dr. Peter Attah, the NMA chairman, Nasarawa while briefing newsmen to mark 2022 Physicians’ Week in the state revealed that of the 550 licensed doctors working in the state, 350 are with the FMC while about 200 work at DASH, HMB and some other government institutions such as the Federal University of Lafia.
Others, he said are the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA), and Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He, however, claimed that over 100 doctors who were working in DASH, FMC Keffi, and HMB have left the state for Saudi Arabia in the last year
