Police respond to alleged extortion by operatives in Kubwa
The Police have confirmed they are investigating an allegation of corrupt activities by the traffic police around Gado Nasko road at Federal Housing Estate, Kubwa, FCT, Abuja.
The confirmation was announced on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a post via his Twitter handle.
Adejobi was responding to an allegation by a Twitter user @Commander, who claimed on Monday in a post via his Twitter handle that police operatives were setting people up at the traffic lights and collecting money at the said location.
The complainant wrote that he fell victim on Saturday and had to pay N10,000 to the unidentified policemen after a negotiation.
He had written “Dear Force pro @Princemoye1 the traffic police at federal housing kubwa(gado nasko road) are setting people up at the traffic lights and collecting money, I fell victim on saturday and had to part with 10,000 naira.”
However, Adejobi responded, “This has been referred to the FCT command for necessary action, and they will revert. Thanks”
