“Pull them down” – Wike direct the demolition of abandoned buildings in Abuja
FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a fresh directive on all abandoned buildings within the capital city, Abuja.
Speaking when he appeared before the Senate committee on appropriations on Wednesday, Wike told the lawmakers that all abandoned buildings in the FCT will be flattened.
According to the minister, criminals use the abandoned buildings as hideouts.
“We will bring down all abandoned buildings in the FCT. We will also take over all those buildings because we have discovered that they are hideouts for criminals,” Wike said.
“When people commit crime, they will come and hide inside them. I have confidence that things would turn around.”
He, however, said the security situation would continue to improve adding that the issue of “one chance” would be a thing of the past when the metro buses begin operation.
