Reno Omokri: No birthday greetings for Buhari, Nigerians in pain

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and social media influencer, has stated that he has no wishes for President Muhammadu Buhari because the latter has caused Nigerians pain.

Omokri revealed this to Track News in a statement titled ’80th Birthday Tribute To General Buhari’ on Saturday.

According to him, Buhari’s birthday coincides with an increase in Nigeria’s debt profile.

He claimed that when the President took office in 2015, the country was much better than it is now.

Omokri urged Buhari to provide solutions to the country’s numerous problems.

“It is rather poignantly coincidental that on the day General Buhari celebrates his 80th birthday, it was revealed that Nigeria is now one of the World Bank’s top four debtors,” he said. We are the fourth most indebted country in the world. Only India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh owe us more.

“In 2015, Nigeria was wealthy, and Buhari was impoverished. Buhari will be wealthy in 2022, while Nigeria will be impoverished. I see no reason to wish a happy birthday to someone who has achieved such extraordinary success.

“First and foremost, he has already made himself content with our commonwealth. How much of our meager resources has he squandered on his health as Nigeria’s top health tourist in London, UK?

“How much was spent on his son, Yusuf Buhari’s wedding last year? The cost was estimated to be more than $1 million. Over 100 private planes landed in Kano. The couple was featured on the front page of Tatler Magazine in Europe, with the headline “Inside Nigeria’s ultra-glamorous royal wedding.”

“And this is a man who had to take out a loan to pay for his Presidential nomination form in 2015. Nigerians are now forced to take out loans just to feed themselves.

“So why should I wish such a wastrel and leprous-fingered fellow a happy 80th birthday? A man who has brought much misery to Nigeria, to the point where we have become the world headquarters for extreme poverty, and our currency has become one of the worst performing on the planet, moving from 190 to $1 in 2015 to 750 to $1 today?

“The only thing I am eager to wish Buhari is bye-bye on May 29, 2023. And he shouldn’t expect to be able to retire to Daura in peace. He and Buratai must account for the October 20, 2020, Lekki Massacre of peaceful, unarmed EndSARS protesters, as well as the 347 men, women, children, and infants killed during the December 12, 2015, Zaria Massacre of Shiites, among other state-sponsored killings,” the statement concluded.
