Sammie Okposo, late gospel singer, was honored in death
The best Soundtrack in the movie category has been renamed after the late ‘Wellu Wellu’ singer, who in his lifetime was described as a general in God’s army and took the gospel beyond the church.
The organizers made the last-minute change to ensure that the 2022 edition, which will take place on Saturday, December 3, in Owerri, Imo State, is truly memorable.
“In his lifetime, Sammie Okposo was a force, and he contributed significantly to the growth of gospel music in Nigeria and beyond.” We are not a music award, but we feel compelled to pay tribute to him in some way. This is why we renamed the best soundtrack category after him. His loss will be felt, but all of this is merely a means of immortalizing him.” Seun Ololetuyi, the founder of the BON Award, stated
