The Amotekun in Osun State has revealed that it has intensified security surveillance among border communities in the state.

This revelation was made by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd.) during a chat with journalists on Thursday in Osogbo.

The move, Adewinmbi added, was in response to the alarm raised on Tuesday by the state governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Governor Adeleke had raised alarm that there were plans by criminals to attack schools and farm settlements in the state.

The governor, who raised the alarm in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said those behind the plot aimed to disrupt the implementation of his administration’s infrastructural plan by causing apprehension in the state.

Adeleke said he had put the security forces on the alert and would embark on major reforms of the Amotekun corps.

Adewinmbi also disclosed that the state-owned security outfit had intensified the patrol of border communities in a bid to forestall the alleged plot.

Adewinbi said many measures were being adopted to prevent a breakdown of law and order in Osun State.

“Amotekun is collaborating with the other security agencies. I have been having meetings with the security agencies in the state. We are doing everything possible to make sure it doesn’t happen.

“We are thinking of how to secure our borders, we are thinking of how to intensify intelligence gathering within the state and so many other things. The security agency is on top of everything,” he said.
