Strike: Labour, FG in crucial meeting in Aso Rock

Top Federal Government officials led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, are currently meeting the leadership of the organised labour at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting, which is at the instance of the Federal Government, is billed to discuss the possibility of averting the planned indefinite strike expected to begin on Tuesday by the labour unions to protest the hardship being faced by Nigerians since fuel subsidy was removed by President Bola Tinubu.

The labour delegation, led by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, arrived the Conference Hall of the Permanent Secretary, State House at about 3:15pm.

Among the labour team are the Secretary of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Nuhu Toro and his NLC counterpart, Emma Ugbaja.

Members of the government team include the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr (Mrs) Folasade Yemi-Esan; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Labour and Employment, Hon. Simon Lalong; Minister of State, Nkeiruka Onyejecha; Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Beta Edu.

Also present are some directors from the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
