Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni is said to have arrested a teen in the state for an alleged social media post.
The Nigeria Police Force’s State Command confirmed this on Monday, stating that the boy is in their custody and will be charged in court soon.

According to reports, the 16-year-old boy insulted the governor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his social media page.

The minor was arrested in Nguru and later transferred to the State Investigation Division of the police force in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, according to Channels Television.

Isa expressed regret over his child’s attitude toward the governor, saying he is nothing more than a laundry man who can only beg Governor Buni to show the child mercy and release him.

Isa petitioned Governor Buni and the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Garba Haruna, for help.

“I’m sorry for what my son did. “I am nobody, just an ordinary laundry man, and what my son (Umar) did was completely wrong; I implore Governor Mai Mala Buni and the police to forgive my son and release him,” the child’s father said.

CP Haruna reiterated that the boy is in detention and will be charged in court.

“When we finish our investigation, he will definitely be charged in court,” Haruna said. People are using social media to insult and tarnish people’s reputations; society must be cleaned up.
