In a heartbreaking turn of events, Barrister Chris Agidy, the Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North, has been confirmed dead. Agidy, who was abducted by bandits in 2023, has tragically lost his life.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, conveyed this grim news to reporters on Tuesday. This development follows a series of abductions in November 2023, where at least 19 individuals were taken from their residences in the Galadimawa area of the nation’s capital by gunmen.

Initially, there were reports of 12 fatalities among the abducted individuals. However, the specific identities of the deceased remained unclear as Senator Nwoko and law enforcement agencies intensified efforts to secure the release of those taken.

Confirming the tragic demise, the FCT PPRO disclosed that Barrister Agidy fell victim to one of the notorious kidnappers wanted for terrorizing the capital city, Samaila Wakili. Wakili was apprehended on February 24 in the Sardauna Forest, located in the Toto area of Nasarawa State, by police operatives.

Upon his capture, the suspect provided crucial information to law enforcement, leading them to the location where Barrister Chris Agidy’s remains were discovered. The deceased’s body was subsequently retrieved and transported to Gwagwalada General Hospital.

This distressing incident underscores the ongoing challenges posed by insecurity in the country and highlights the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat such criminal activities, bring perpetrators to justice, and ensure the safety of all citizens.
