UPDATED: Court reserves judgment in Kano gov’s appeal
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf challenging the nullification of his election by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal’s decision, delivered on September 20, invalidated Yusuf’s victory, citing irregularities in 165,663 votes, which were deemed invalid due to the absence of signatures or stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
As a result, the tribunal declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, the rightful winner of the governorship election.
Governor Yusuf, therefore, filed an appeal, urging the Court of Appeal to overturn the decision.
