IYC CALLS FOR CALMNESS IN SAGBAMA LGA YOUTH ELECTIONS
•••urges political leaders to shun interference in youth elections.
The Leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone has called for calmness in the Sagbama Federated Council Youth elections earlier scheduled to hold today but unavoidably cancelled.
The Leadership while expressing its displeasure on the outcome of the earlier scheduled elections noted that the obvious reason for the cancellation of the elections was due to political interference, electoral violence and military intervention.
This is an exact case of the Southern Ijaw Federated Youth elections that has not been conducted due to same reasons.
It’s quite unbecoming as our affiliate Youth bodies elections are taken as mediums in trajecting political loyalist into power.
Therefore we urge political leaders & gladiators to desist from such, as we will no longer condone such acts among our youth bodies.
Also, the Leadership of the zone is calling on the Executive Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area to play a fatherly role by mediating between warring parties, as against pitching tent with a particular candidate and inviting military personnels to to scare electorates from the entire process.
We want to clearly state that there was no elections held today, as the Eleco Chairman has called for the postponement of the elections.
We also urge youths to shun electoral violence, keep calm as all hands are on deck to reconcile warring parties to get a hitch free elections.
