Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is set to be honoured, among other African greats, in Kigali, Rwanda.

The former Nigerian leader will be honoured at the maiden edition of The African Heritage Concert and Awards to be held in Kigali, on April 1, 2023.

Others to be honoured include former President of Tanzania, late John Magufuli; Vice President of Liberia, Her Excellency, Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor; Former President of Botswana, Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama (retd), and many others.

Heritage Times (HT), who is putting the event together, said the African Heritage Concert and award will recognised Africans, who have written their names in the history of time through remarkable achievements across the globe.

This, the organizers said it has become very compelling to foster the African culture of excellence and promote Afrocentrism.

Jonathan who served as President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, will be honoured with the African Democracy and Peace Icon Award.

The Bayelsa State-born politician wrote his name in gold in 2015 when he became the first incumbent President in Nigeria to concede defeat to opposition and peacefully hand over power.

Jonathan called to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 even before the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced the results of the presidential election.

Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has been appointed to the international advisory board of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East.

Last year, Jonathan was appointed to the international advisory board of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East.

He is also the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS’ special envoy leading the subregional body’s mediation mission in Mali
