The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a warning about the unauthorized printing of National Identification Number (NIN) cards by individuals and cyber cafés. The commission emphasized that only the officially issued NIMC General Multi-Purpose Card is legally recognized.

According to the NIMC, some individuals and business operators have been illegally producing and distributing printed versions of NIN cards, which are not valid for official transactions. The commission cautioned that such unauthorized activities could lead to identity fraud and misuse of personal information.

The NIMC reiterated that the only valid form of NIN verification remains the official digital or physical card issued by the government. The commission also urged Nigerians to avoid patronizing unauthorized vendors, warning that any fraudulent use of identity documents could result in legal consequences.
