2023: Governor Ikpeazu opens up on leaving PDP
Adeleye Kunle Reports
As the 2023 election draws near, Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State, has said that he is not in a hurry to leave Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
TrackNews Nigeria reports that Ikpeazu, a key ally of disgruntled governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, drew the attention of the leadership of the PDP to the need for national cohesion, security and inclusiveness.
The governor spoke at the grand finale of a week-long activity marking the 31st anniversary celebration of Abia State held in Umuahia recently.
I am an important member of the PDP. We are not in a hurry to leave PDP,” Ikpeazu said.
“However, as a leader of the Igbo, I want to draw the attention of my party to the fact that there are three things the leadership of Nigeria needs.
“One is security, we need to arrest the slide in terms of insecurity. We need to fast track socio economic development and national cohesion and inclusiveness.”
