2023: Kwankwaso Meets Governor Wike In Port Harcourt
Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed reports,
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike meets with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso in Port Harcourt on this Friday.
TrackNews Nigeria learnt that meeting arises as Kwankwaso is in a serious search for a running mate before the coming presidential elections of 2023.
Recall that we had earlier reported how Kwankwaso met with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi over the possibility of the two parties forming a coalition.
The discussion has been experiencing stumbling blocks due to who will step down to become the running mate of the other.
A source told our Correspondent that Kwankwaso’s summit with Wike today might be an indication that he is looking for the Rivers State Governor as his running mate.
The meeting between Kwankwaso and Wike was confirmed by the aides of the politicians, Premium Times reports.
The meeting which would focus on the 2023 presidential election would start at 2:30 PM on Friday in Port Harcourt.
Recall that there were claims that Kwankwaso aided Wike gain large votes from Kano delegates at the PDP presidential primaries.
Despite Kwankwaso’s defection to NNPP, his associates are in control of PDP in Kano State.
Wike has not broken the ice since his loss of Vice Presidency of the PDP to his buddy, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
He has since met with politicians in the opposition parties including the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Obi of the LP.
