Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council has responded to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s media availability.
Recall that Governor Wike and four other disgruntled governors insisted on the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, in order to reach an agreement with the party.

During a media conference on Friday, Wike stated that the party’s national chairman and presidential candidate coming from the North was against justice and equity.

The Rivers governor urged Ayu to keep his promise made before the primaries to step down if a northerner emerged as the presidential candidate.

A spokesman for the campaign council, Charles Aniagwu, told The reporters on Friday night that Wike and his allies would soon return to the campaign council.

The council spokesman went on to say that Wike and his allies would work with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to win the election and save the country.

He stated that Abubakar desires a situation in which everyone is on board, and that he (Atiku) is not interested in the majority getting their way.

Aniagwu, on the other hand, stated that the party remained united despite disagreements among stakeholders, and that there are numerous reconciliation efforts underway.

“The party is a united family; we don’t have factions in the PDP,” he said. Individuals are expressing their desires for what they want to happen, which is permitted in a democracy.

“Aside from the fact that the majority always has their way in a democracy, Atiku wants a situation in which everyone is on board.” He does not want the majority to have their way.

“That is why you are seeing so many peace moves, with our elders and leaders imploring those who are upset about what has happened to please sheath their sword.” We are confident that those who are not yet on board will do so soon.”
