APC spokesman plans defection to PDP
Spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State Prince Ogbonna Nwuke, who recently resigned his appointment, has dumped the party.
Nwuke, a strong loyalist of Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, said he left APC because of inequality in the sharing formula of appointments.
Nwuke, who served as the commissioner for Information and Communications in the past government of Amaechi, said the leadership of APC failed to effect the change it promised the people of his Etche ethnic nationality.
Speaking in Port Harcourt yesterday, he said: “For more than six years, we have not seen the change that they promised us. They have not considered us worthy of any appointment except an assistant to NDDC MD.
“In the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, Etche is empty when it comes to sharing of appointments. I cannot stand the frustration staring my people in the face. We have waited for the past six years and we have not been found worthy of any appointment.”
“It is time to step aside from the APC. I didn’t anticipate that this day will come. We were promised change in APC. But we have not seen the change. I am leaving APC stronger and more united than I met it.”
Speaking about his next move, Nwuke said although he was yet to finalise his decision, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was already courting him.
He hoped that Etche people would be more comfortable with the PDP in Rivers State in future.
