Atiku’s Camp denied reports that he intends to split the party in Rivers State
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Atiku Abubakar’s campaign for president of the Peoples Democratic Party has denied reports that he intends to split the party’s Rivers State branch in two.
As previously reported by Track News, Nyesom Wike’s camp claimed that Atiku had snubbed the governor and had instead begun meeting with some Rivers PDP leaders.
Prior to the general elections in 2023, the former vice president reportedly wants to isolate Governor Wike.
Atiku did not meet with Wike’s men in Abuja, according to a key official in the PDP presidential candidate’s office who spoke with Tracknews.
He added that the former vice president is still dedicated to mending fences inside the party.
The source attributed the assertion that Atiku is attempting to splinter the Rivers PDP to the fifth columnist.
We don’t know where all of that is coming from, he declared. We must exercise extreme caution. The fifth columnist, who tries to gain from everything, exists. We are currently engaged in mediation. So, we must use extreme caution. Additionally, there are those who oppose the success of this endeavor. But I am aware that the peace process is still in progress.
