The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential Campaign Council bemoaned Tuesday that the opposition parties’ criticism of its campaign “is a symptom of despair.”

The council, in contrast to its rivals, pledged to conduct a presidential campaign free of vulgarity and inflammatory rhetoric.

Yesterday, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), the spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, clarified this on his Twitter account, @fkeyamo.

Keyamo’s statement came soon after Senator Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) spokesperson for the 2023 presidential campaign, criticized Keyamo for his remarks about the PDP’s presidential contender, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Melaye chastised the APC and claimed that the PDP would have a difficult time promoting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate.

“This government promoted Atiku by demonstrating their abject failure. The hardest candidate to sell today is an APC candidate, whether they are running for governor, the Senate, or the House of Representatives, the member stated.

“For this reason, you cannot support, advertise, or campaign for Bola Ahmed Tinubu without coming across as foolish. Festus Keyamo, my brother and buddy, experienced this when he started veering off topic. He began stating things that are illogical.

Keyamo criticized the opposition parties for using derogatory language towards the ruling party’s presidential campaign committee in response to Malaye’s remark from yesterday.

Since the APC presidential campaign council “would not use derogatory comments on our opponents and their spokespersons,” Keyamo pledged to “conduct a clean campaign.”

“We shall avoid from referring to people that Nigerians perceive as being foolish by their gaffes as such. Abuses during a campaign are a show of annoyance. We will remain focused on the problems, said Keyamo.
