Biography Of The Incoming Anambra Deputy Governor, Gilbert Ibezim
Dr Gilbert Onyekachukwu Ibezim has been elected as the new Deputy Governor-elect of Anambra State under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Ibezim is described as a youth leader, mobilizer and political activist.
Before his election, Ibezim was the first appointed as the Special Adviser to Governor Wille Obiano on Youth Empowerment and the Executive Director Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA). He was later appointed as the Special Adviser on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal Practice and doubles as the Managing Director, Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant.
Personal Life
Ibezim hails from Ovulu Umuoma village in Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The public health expert and medical practitioner is from Anambra Central Senatorial Zone. Ibezim is the younger brother to the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Revd. Alexander Ibezim.
He is a devout Christian, a husband and father to lovely children.
Education
He attended the prestigious Federal Government College, Minna, Niger State, and graduated from College of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus.
Career
Ibezim started his career as a medical doctor with the Nigerian Ministry of Defense before joining the Government of Anambra State. He later became a renowned youth leader, mobilizer and political activist.
He was the first appointed as the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Youth Empowerment and the Executive Director Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA). He was later appointed as the Special Adviser on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal Practice and doubles as the Managing Director, Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant.
Naija News reports that APGA’s Charles Chukwuma Soludo was declared the winner of the Anambra governorship election in the early hours of Wednesday.
The former Central Bank governor was declared the winner by the Returning Officer of the Anambra governorship election, Professor Florence Obi.
Soludo emerged winner with 112,229 votes to defeat Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 53,807 votes, and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress who got 43,285 votes. Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party polled 21,261 votes came fourth.
