Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari won’t be permitted to hold the office of president of this federation for any additional time because he would hand it over to Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, while Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar could still use the legal system to contest Tinubu’s victory.

According to Channels Television, the SGF who spoke during the meeting of the Presidential Transition Committee revealed that plans are on track to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and formal transfer of power to the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, on May 29 and there would be no chance from the opposition parties to disrupt the transition because they have been advised to go to court.

Bola Tinubu has been declared the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Buhari will hand over the presidency to him, and Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar can continue to challenge Tinubu in court, according to SGF Mustapha.

President Muhammadu Buhari is not spending a day extra after May 29 to hand over power to whoever has been declared by INEC. The court processes will continue and we are doing everything to ensure that the transition process is not truncated; the federal government has issued a statement to that effect. The transition process is on course and all efforts are being made to ensure that it is smooth and on May 29, there will be a peaceful, formal transfer of power to the President-Elect”.
