The All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, has paid a visit to former Adamawa State governor, Jibrilla Bindow, amid reports of defections.
Bindow, the governor of Adamawa State from 2015 to 2019, lost his re-election bid in 2019 partly due to disagreements with a few prominent party figures, at least two of whom are widely believed to have discouraged voters from supporting him.

He ran for the party’s governorship ticket in the 2023 election but was defeated, ostensibly because the other candidates used strategies with which he disagreed.

As a result, rumors circulated that he was leaving the APC.

Shettima, along with a few other prominent APC members, paid a visit to Bindow’s home in Abuja on Thursday in an attempt to persuade him to remain in the party and support the party in the 2023 general elections.

According to the Track News, Shettima begged the former governor to abandon his plans to leave the party because he had worked so hard for it.

Shettima went on to say that he cannot stand by and watch Bindow leave the party while they work to win the 2023 election.

“My brother, you have worked so hard for this party, I can’t bear the thought of you leaving us,” he said. We are all working together to win the election in 2023.”

The APC vice presidential candidate also acknowledged Bindow’s suffering as a result of the party’s internal feuds, but stated that efforts were being made to bring the entire APC in Adamawa State together.
