Funke Akindele Speaks On Why She Joined ‘Jandor’
By Adeleye Kunle
Funke Akindele, popular Nollywood actress and 2023 running mate to Lagos PDP governorship candidate Dr. Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, says her acceptance was motivated by the need to bring positive change to women, youth, and children.
Akindele, who was unveiled by the Lagos State PDP yesterday at a carnival-like event in Ikorodu attended by the party’s candidates, leaders, and members, said her decision to join Adediran was a huge sacrifice.
While expressing gratitude for the ticket, Akindele stated that she had given up her 14-year passion and career in order to bring positive change to Lagos residents.
“Jandor has given up a lot, talking passionately about young people for over seven years, to plan this project; abandoning his business to make a difference in the state.” So I’m putting my career on hold for the time being. I am speaking up for women and youths in Nigeria; we have talent. We must investigate what we have.
“We both made sacrifices to enter politics in order to bring about positive change for the people of Ikorodu and the state.” Rather than fleeing abroad, we should build a state where our children can live. “I’m joining Jandor to bring some fresh air to Ikorodu and Lagos,” she explained.
Akindele, who stated that she initially fled when nominated for the ticket, stated that God and the people promised to support her.
“I took the call. We own Lagos; we will vote, win, and govern the state. I’m going to be there for the ladies. I am available to the youths and children. We can accomplish a lot for this state and country if we work together. We are youths, we can run, and we have the energy to fix Lagos. I thank you on behalf of my Ikorodu people. I will not put you down. “The PDP is gaining control,” Akindele added.
Mr Philip Aivoji, the Lagos PDP Chairman, presented the party’s flag to Akindele and stated that it was time for the PDP to take over leadership in the state.
“When the time comes for something, no one can hide it.” We have come to light up Ikorodu and all of Lagos State by the power of God. Victory is ours by the grace of God, and it is certain in 2023,” Aivoji stated.
