According to the scriptures: ” To everything there is a time and season “. It is therefore discomforting to read a transparently false political gibberish via a social media post by a caustic character whose actions are clearly not in conformity with the present mode in the state as a result of the challenges being faced by Bayelsans due to the monstrous flood.

While it is acknowledged that Bayelsans are eagerly waiting to hit the campaign trail for their respective candidates in the forth coming elections to the various political offices, because of the present challenges confronting the state, most Bayelsans are united in ensuring that normalcy returns to the state before commencing political campaigns and other electioneering activities.

And the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri is at the forefront leading the charge. Visiting communities, receiving high profile visitors who are responding positively to the plight of the flood victims across the state and demonstrating an unprecedented compassion, love and care never seen in the history of the state.

When it is time for politics, the Governor and his team would give a good account of themselves. Therefore, it is not right for someone to throw – up unscientific data on a social media platform positing that the chances of re-electing Gov. Douye Diri is below 49%.

Whilst the assertion is laughable, I am convinced that Bayelsans know the true electoral value of this character. There is a sea of difference between political grandstanding on social media platforms to massage the over bloated ego of some power seekers who tore the fabric of governance in the state and the present reality on ground.

The governor Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo should be allowed to concentrate on providing succour to Bayelsans who are worst hit by the ravaging flood and to give comfort to the most vulnerable in the state. When it is time for politics, these men know best how to play the game.
