JUST-IN Police Launches Investigation into Poisoning of Tinubu’s minister
The Nigerian Police have launched an investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, who has been hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre.
TrackNews reports that the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Haruna Garba, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to immediately take over from the Mabushi Police Division, an ongoing investigation into the alleged poisoning.
The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed the development on Saturday in an exclusive telephone interview, the Punch reports.
“The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID,” SP Adeh revealed.
Ade-John, a 60-year-old, was appointed minister by President Bola Tinubu in August. She has been hospitalised in Abuja due to suspected acute poisoning of unknown origin.
Sources close to the family reported that the minister was quickly taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi when she began showing signs of illness. As of Saturday morning, she had been at the facility for five days.
