Two Jailed For Cable Theft In Ogun

Hussain Waziri and Mustapha Aliyu have been convicted to one year in prison by the Magistrate Court in Ilaro, Ogun State, for stealing armoured cables from the Dangote Cement Company in Ibese.

Waziri, 36, and Aliyu, 33, were brought before M. T. Olayemi Osikoya and convicted on two charges after pleading guilty to the offences.

TrackNews Media gathered that they were apprehended at the Dangote Cement Factory Outpost station during routine beat patrol operations carried out by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command.

According to the report, the serial cable thieves allegedly conspired, crossed the outer gate, and gained access to the power plant’s cable yard.

In order to avoid being arrested, the criminals physically attacked security workers with deadly tools, but they were eventually apprehended and charged in court.

Reacting to the arrest and conviction, the NSCDC Ogun State commandant, David Ojelabi, restated the command’s commitment to the security of key infrastructure and ensuring that crime is stamped out in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
