Man bags jail term for insulting father
A Plateau State Magistrate Court in Jos has sentenced a man identified as Fwangmun Danung to one year in prison for insulting and intimidating his father.
The Magistrate, Tapmwa Gotep, sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty.
The magistrate sentenced the 35-year-old man to six months for intimidating his father without a fine option and another six months for insulting his father with an option of N10,000 fine.
The prosecutor, Insp Frank Alex, earlier told the court that the defendant had 26 December 2022, dragged his father out of the house and called him an irresponsible and useless man. Also, he threatened to burn down the house if the father refused to “settle” him with N200,000.
The prosecutor further noted that the offence was punishable under Sections 377 and 379 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
