Following a surprise meeting between the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, peace may have returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Remember that the duo met last Thursday in Abuja at the home of former Information Minister and PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Professor Jerry Gana, to settle their squabble.

The PDP has been dealing with an internal crisis since Wike lost the party’s presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar, according to Naija News.

The crisis worsened when Atiku chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate instead of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

This prompted a meeting of the PDP Board of Trustees, who attempted to mediate a truce so that the party could enter the 2023 election united.

Both Atiku and Wike agreed to form a 14-member panel to advise and consult with both men.

The panel’s membership has yet to be made public, according to a top party source, because some members have yet to be officially informed.

The panel will take off with “immediate effect,” according to the source.

“In the last 24 hours, we’ve made significant progress since our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike,” the source said.

“The meeting, which caught our adversaries off guard, has reduced tension and restored hope for a quick resolution of what our adversaries regard as a major conflict.”

However, according to the source, no conditions or concessions were made.

“The issue of conditions did not arise when both men set aside their differences and spoke candidly to each other.”

“Undoubtedly, their followers will take a cue from this and follow suit.” What is happening now is an attempt to find a way forward.

“The recommendations of the 14-member committee will be considered, and action will be taken.” “I assure you that the campaign council will follow up,” said the source.
