Ado Doguwa, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, says he has resolved with his household to vote for presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections.

Explaining why he came late to parliament on Wednesday at plenary, the Kano politician said “Even though my party had cause to reschedule their programme and activities, I have done my flag off with my 28 children and four wives, who will vote for Tinubu and every other candidate of the APC.”

Unlike the opposition parties, the APC presidential campaign council announced the postponement of the inauguration of its campaign council indefinitely following criticism that has greeted the names of members on the lists.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally lifted the ban on political campaigns on Wednesday for the 2023 general elections.

No less than eighteen presidential candidates were cleared while their names and credentials were also published by the electoral body ahead of the February exercise.

Messrs Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) have been the major contenders in the race to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari, who would be finishing his second term tenure in the office next year.

The lawmaker, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano, has not hidden his support for Mr Tinubu since the latter joined the race for the presidential seat.

Mr Doguwa has been one of the hardened supporters of the former Lagos governor, from the North, since he was elected into the green chamber of the country’s lower house.

Speaking further in a viral video, Mr Doguwa, popularly known for his penchant to speak about his women and children, said it is ‘worthwhile’ for him and his family to support Mr Tinubu.

“I had to flag off my campaign and the campaign of my presidential candidate, Tinubu. I was doing something worthwhile, the federal lawmaker added.

Mr Tinubu, who enjoys wide support from the South-West region, had picked incumbent senator, Kashim Shettima, as running-mate, to balance the equation and garner votes for his ambition.

Both men flying a Muslim-Muslim ticket on the platform of the APC have faced pushbacks from Christian groups.
