PDP Chieftain Calls For Party Leadership Restructuring In 2023 To Resolve Crisis

Adakole Ijoki, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has called for the party’s leadership to be restructured if it wants genuine reconciliation.
According to Ijoki, northerners hold the majority of party leadership positions, with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, hailing from the same region.

He mentioned that the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, and others are from the North.

During an interview with Track News on Wednesday, Ijoki urged the party to resolve the leadership crisis before the 2023 general elections.

“When it comes to the resignation of our party’s chairman, my position is simple,” he said.

“If you look at how the PDP is currently structured, the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum is from the north, Sokoto.” Adamawa is the presidential candidate from the north.

“The party’s National Chairman is from Benue in the north. Nasarawa is the chairman of the Board of Trustees. These are issues that the PDP must address.

“The party is considering correcting and reinventing itself in order to win elections and include every member of the party.” In that regard, discussions are currently underway.”
