Former Senate President Bukola Saraki expressed optimism that the current political squabbles between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the G-5 Governors, led by Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, would be resolved soon.

Saraki, a former Kwara governor, went on to say, “We will surprise Nigerians.” We are going to work together to improve Nigeria’s lot.”

The former Senate President spoke with reporters on the sidelines of his late father, Dr. Olusola Saraki’s, 10th anniversary celebrations in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

“We will surprise Nigerians,” he said. This is because we are all concerned with what is best for the country. Take a look at the poverty on the street. Consider how poorly governance has gone.

“We will prioritize Nigerians because Nigerians want the PDP back in power.” We will resolve the minor differences between Governor Wike and Alhaji Abubakar, and at the end of the day, whether it is Wike or others, all of us in the PDP want a better Nigeria.”

Senator Saraki recalled a memorable time with his late father: “it was the time he was convincing me to go into politics.” It was not an easy task. It was a battle, and I fought it. But now I realize that the greatest satisfaction in life is seeing people grow.

“The only thing we can do as his children is carry on his legacy of improving people’s lives and standing up for the truth.” Though it is difficult to stand for the truth, I am determined to fight for a better Kwara.”

Other dignitaries at the fidau include Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development; ex-Kwara Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed, former PDP national chair Abubakar Kawu Baraje, and former youth and sports minister Bolaji Abdullahi.

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, ex-minister of transportation Hon Bio Ibrahim, ex-speaker of the Kwara state House of Assembly Prof Ali Ahmad, state PDP chair Hon Babatunde Mohammed, and Senator Saraki’s wife, Toyin, are among those who have spoken out.
