The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has debunked reports of a rift between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Speaking while featuring as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Philip Shaibu stated that there is not disagreement between him and Obaseki.

While restating his unalloyed loyalty to the governor, he said: “I am happy with my governor; I don’t have any problem with my governor.

“So, the issue of not being happy with my governor is not there. I remain absolutely loyal to my governor.”

Asked what went wrong with the PDP on whose platform he was re-elected into office, the deputy governor admitted there were some issues within the ruling party in the state.

There are issues we need to resolve over PDP,” he said.

He however refused to categorically state whether he would leave the party or not.

Recall that reports had emerged on Monday claiming Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu had perfected plans to dump the PDP.

According to reports, marathon meetings were held outside the country last week between the Edo Deputy Governor and some party bigwigs in the country ahead of his planned defection

According to the report, there are strong indications that the Deputy Governor may not join any other political party immediately after quitting the PDP.

But in an exclusive interview with Naija News, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Ebomhiana Musa, denied the report.

While admitting that Philip Shaibu travelled abroad for his vacation, Musa said his principal only spent time with his family.

According to him, the reports of his defection were only the figment of the authors imagination.
