President Bola Tinubu has responded to the allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, stating that Atiku’s attempt to blackmail the judiciary will not succeed.

Tinubu remarked that Atiku’s recent comments indicate that he has not yet recovered from the shock of his defeat in the 2023 presidential election.

He challenged Atiku to provide concrete evidence of his administration’s alleged efforts to undermine the judiciary.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Dele Alake, Tinubu expressed that Atiku’s claims were riddled with innuendos, insinuations, and outright falsehoods.

He criticized the former Vice President for making baseless accusations without presenting any convincing arguments or evidence to support his claims against President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alake further noted that Atiku’s attempt to discredit the judiciary while he himself is party to a case before the Presidential Election Petition Court is a cheap and shameless tactic.

He highlighted President Tinubu’s history of championing democracy, the rule of law, and the independence of the judiciary during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, even while facing opposition from the PDP-led Federal Government.

The statement emphasized that President Tinubu, with his impressive record of promoting the rule of law, would never contemplate undermining the judiciary. It emphasized that Tinubu’s victory in the last election was a result of a free, fair, and transparent process, and he and the APC have no reason to tamper with the judiciary in pursuit of any favorable judgment.
