In this interview, Hon. Onofiok Luke, a member of the House Committee on Judiciary and the Chairman of the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, expresses his disapproval of calls for an interim administration and urges Nigerians to rally behind the President-elect to move the country forward while election-related legal proceedings are ongoing.

I have faith in Nigeria’s judicial system. From a personal standpoint, I really feel that being praised for the principles you upheld or the deeds you accomplished while holding that office is the highest reward for a public worker, whether they hold judicial or other public office.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the president elect. I am an absolute believer in the will of God. It is the will of God that he has emerged. Let’s rally around him and see how we can make the country move on and become better. And then those who are pursuing cases in court, let us allow Atiku, Kwankwaso, Obi, Sowore and the rest to continue to pursue the election petitions at the court. But let us begin to put our hands together and move this country forward. Issues need to be addressed as soon as possible.”

He further stated:

“Then you talked about the National Assembly. Since we have had a Muslim Muslim ticket, right now the position of the Senate President should go to a Christian. Let us have the number three position in this country to go to a Christian. Why am I saying so? That will give us a sense of belonging in our national polity. In the emerging political scenario, let us have a Christian Senate President, the number three position. For me not only that. I have a bias concerning that because I need it to come from South South.”
