Jos, Plateau state – The Plateau state government has dismissed the insinuation that Governor Caleb Mutfwang boasted of securing his seat after meeting with President Bola Tinubu and the chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola.

As reported by Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, December 19, the Plateau government said no meeting transpired between Tinubu, Ariwoola, and the governor who was sacked by the Appeal Court.

Plateau govt in bullish mood ahead
The state commissioner of information, Musa Ashoms, said in a statement that the allegation was a “groundless propaganda”.

The Sun newspaper also noted Mutfwang’s rebuttal.

The Plateau government’s statement partly reads:

“Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s victory was resoundingly established on March 18, 2023, through the people’s popular votes and validated by INEC.

“No amount of grandstanding, cheap propaganda, or satanic press releases can change the will of God for Plateau state.

“Where these merchants of destabilisation understand that key stakeholders in society recognise His Excellency’s legitimacy. This is something to cheer about and not embark on a spree of negative campaigns.”…

Plateau: APC chieftain predicts possible winner
Earlier, AmbaJay reported that a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Williams Dakwom, outlined the key factor that could work against the Plateau state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing legal battle at the Supreme Court.

In a chat with AmbaJay, Dakwom emphasised that the court order for PDP to conduct congresses, which they allegedly flouted, could impact the final judgment at the apex court.

“Why we sacked Mutfwang” – Appeal Court judge
AmbaJay also reported that Justice Abdulaziz Waziri of the Court of Appeal explained the judgement of the court that sacked Governor Mutfwang and national and state assembly members of the PDP in Plateau state.

The judge, who spoke at the ‘2023 law week’ in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, on Tuesday, December 12, said those who are criticising the court verdict are not getting the point.

Supreme Court: Ex-Plateau governor predicts winner
In another related news, AmbaJay reported that a former governor of Plateau state, Fidelis Tapgun, predicted the possible outcome of the Supreme Court judgment in Mutfwang’s case.

Tapgun noted that he had warned his party before the 2023 general elections over the previous court judgements against the PDP structure in Plateau state, but he was ignored, even by Mutfwang.
