Why Governors of the APC support Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate.

The governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced their support for Senator Kashim Shettima as the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, on Monday in Daura, Katsina.

The decision was made by the APC Governors shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura rural retreat.

They expressed confidence in Tinubu and Shettima working together to achieve the party’s success in the presidential election.

Abubakar Bagudu, Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, told journalists after the closed-door meeting that the Governors will work hard to guarantee the party’s triumph at the polls.

“When Senator Kashim Ibrahim Shettima was declared as the Vice Presidential candidate in Daura on Sunday, we were pleasantly pleased,” he said.

“We were overjoyed when Senator Shettima was nominated for Vice President.

Senator Shettima’s talents would undoubtedly complement Asiwaju Tinubu’s.”

“We are overjoyed with our decision.

The two will undoubtedly complement one other and build on the President’s accomplishments over the last seven years.”

Bagudu informed that they were traveling to Daura to wish the President a happy Sallah.

Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma stated that Shettima’s pick as running partner was chosen collaboratively by all Progressive Governors, and that the APC will work hard to win the 2023 election.

“The selection of Senator Shettima as vice presidential candidate was made collaboratively,” he explained.

We shall work relentlessly to secure the success of each of our states.”

While the presidential candidate chose his running mate, Plateau Governor Simon Lalong stated that all APC governors would work together to secure the party’s triumph in the 2023 general election.

“A Presidential candidate has the right to select his or her Vice President,” he stated.

Ours, on the other hand, is to ensure that our party is elected President.”

Aminu Masari (Katsina), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Abubakar Bello (Niger), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Simon Lalong (Plateau), and Nasir El-Rufai were the nine governors ( Kaduna).
