All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Chukwuemeka Eze has faulted Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp over allegations against Rotimi Amaechi ahead of the presidential election.

Eze said the accusation that the former Minister of Transport was hobnobbing with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate Atiku Abubakar was false.

The Rivers PDP Campaign Council, through its spokesperson, Ogbonna Nwuke, had claimed Amaechi is a member of the “wicked cabal” punishing Nigerians with fuel and naira scarcity.

Nwike alleged that Amaechi had been holding meetings with Atiku and others to starve the masses of cash in the name of politics.

In a statement on Tuesday, Eze noted that the former Rivers helmsman “cannot be caught in the web of political cowardice like Governor Wike”.

The politician said Wike only was playing the ostrich “in a bid to escape culpability for the mountainous legacy of failure of his administration”.

Eze recalled that when it was “a taboo to be associated with General Muhammadu Buhari”, Amaechi supported him and served as campaign Director General in 2015 and 2019.

He dared Nwuke and “his paymaster to furnish Nigerians with details” of the role Amaechi played regarding the fuel crisis and cash crunch.

The APC member maintained there is no validity in the Rivers PDP council official’s “irresponsible assertion”.

“His unfounded statement is only good to impress Governor Wike who has instructed his likes to drag Amaechi into their catastrophic political voyage,” he stated.

Noting that every Nigerian reserves the right to association, Eze described Amaechi as a loyal party man whose actions are guided by his love for Nigeria.

“Instead of digging up falsehood, Nwuke and his likes should encourage their principal to drop the idea of attempting to run away from the country after the elections,” the statement added
