EPL: Portugal coach speaks on Ronaldo getting benched by Ten Hag at Man Utd
By Adeleye Kunle
Portugal head coach, Fernando Santos, has said Cristiano Ronaldo remains an important part of the national team, even if his playing time at Manchester United has reduced this season.
Ronaldo was called up to the squad on Thursday for Nations League matches against the Czech Republic on September 24 and against Spain on September 27.
“I have absolutely no worries about Ronaldo’s lack of playing time for Manchester United.
“As with any player I have to work out what the situation is with him.
“But I don’t think anyone has any doubts that Ronaldo continues to be of great importance to the national team,” Santos said.
Ronaldo tried and failed to force a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as he sought to play in the Champions League
