Peseiro makes last-minute change to Super Eagles’ squad for Algeria game
By Adeleye Kunle
Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Jose Peseiro, has replaced Leon Balogun in his squad to face Algeria in a friendly next week with Valentine Ozornwafor.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Balogun has picked up an injury, despite playing the entire 90 minutes in QPR’s goalless draw against Stoke City.
The former Rangers defender even earned his coach’s praise after the game, with Michael Beale noting that his experience brought a lot of calm to the team.
Ozornwafor, already capped three times in the past for Nigeria, is a former U-20 international and one of the few left-footed centre backs in the Super Eagles at the moment.
The Super Eagles will face the Desert Foxes on September 27.
